Update checked 15 August 2026: UNICEF offers internships, but the official UNICEF vacancy pages reviewed do not currently display the specific Nigeria Social Policy internship described in this article. Do not treat an old location list, deadline, or forwarded application form as a current UNICEF opening.
What UNICEF confirms about internships
UNICEF says its Internship Programme gives students and recent graduates practical work experience through global opportunities. Internships normally run for 6 to 26 weeks and may be full-time or part-time. UNICEF says a monthly stipend is provided, and a contribution towards travel and visa costs may be available where funding permits; the exact terms remain vacancy-specific.
Who may be eligible
UNICEF’s general requirements include being at least 18 and either enrolled in an undergraduate, graduate, or PhD programme or having graduated within the past two years. Candidates must also meet language, academic, conflict-of-interest, and role-specific requirements in the live vacancy. Meeting the general criteria does not guarantee selection.
How to check a live Nigeria opportunity
- Open UNICEF’s official current vacancies page.
- Filter by Nigeria and Internship, then look for the exact role and requisition number.
- Read the full live vacancy for the location, duration, eligibility, deadline, stipend terms, and application instructions.
- Apply only through the official UNICEF system. If the exact role is not listed, it is not a confirmed current opportunity.
Important distinction
UNICEF offers internships throughout the year, but that does not mean every earlier Nigeria internship remains open. A live vacancy controls the current application period and terms. The internship filter may show openings in other countries, which are not automatically open to applicants in Nigeria or for this former role.
Official pages
Before applying or sharing documents, verify the exact role directly in UNICEF’s official vacancy system.
