NNPC/SNEPCo Postgraduate Scholarship 2026: Official Eligibility and Status

The NNPC-SNEPCo postgraduate scholarship is a study opportunity for eligible Nigerian graduates. It is not the same as the NNPC/SNEPCo National University Scholarship for undergraduates, and each programme has its own requirements and application route.

What the 2026 postgraduate scholarship covered

According to Shell Nigeria’s official notice, the 2026 programme was for one-year eligible MSc studies at the University of Aberdeen and Newcastle University for the academic year beginning in September 2026. The stated support covered tuition, one economy return flight from Nigeria to the United Kingdom, and a contribution towards living expenses. It also included medical insurance in line with UK student visa requirements.

Eligible courses listed in the official 2026 notice

• University of Aberdeen: MSc Geophysics; MSc Safety & Reliability Engineering for Oil & Gas; MSc Advanced Chemical Engineering; and MSc Integrated Petroleum Geoscience.
• Newcastle University: MSc Data Science and AI; MSc Data Science; MSc Engineering Management; MSc Sustainable Chemical Engineering; MSc Artificial Intelligence; MSc Robotics and AI; and MSc Marine and Ocean Engineering.

Eligibility requirements to verify for a future call

• Nigerian citizenship and residence in Nigeria.
• A qualifying degree equivalent to a UK Upper Second-Class Honours degree.
• An offer of admission for an eligible course at one of the participating universities.
• English-language evidence meeting the participating university’s requirement; the 2026 notice specified at least IELTS 6.5.
• Completion of NYSC by September 2026 for that specific call.
• Age 21–28 by September 30, 2026 for that specific call, plus a Nigerian international passport valid through December 2026.

Requirements, eligible courses, age rules, deadlines, and funding details can change between calls. Do not reuse the 2026 list as a guarantee for a future year.

How the official 2026 process worked

1. Apply for admission to an eligible course at the University of Aberdeen or Newcastle University.
2. After a formal admission offer, use the scholarship application process made available through the participating university.
3. Allow the university to process applications and, where applicable, invite selected candidates to interview with SNEPCo.

Important distinction: undergraduate scholarship status

The official 2025 NNPC/SNEPCo National University Scholarship page on Scholastica says that its application period has ended. It identifies Scholastica as the official platform for that undergraduate programme and says applications are free. Jobviza has not found a new official 2026 undergraduate application notice on that page as of the date above.
