Choose a writing service you can actually show

Start with one service and a specific audience rather than calling yourself a writer for everything. Fiverr: do not move business off-platform

Fiverr says off-platform payments and communication can remove its protections and can lead to account consequences. Its safety guidance warns against requests for passwords, payment information, QR-code scans, suspicious links, or Telegram/WhatsApp messages posing as jobs. Use the platform’s own message and payment tools and report suspicious activity.

Freelance-writing scam safeguards

• Do not pay a “registration,” “account activation,” “certificate,” “withdrawal,” or “payment release” fee to an individual.
• Do not write a large unpaid test project. If a client requests a sample, keep it short and make sure it cannot simply be used as the final paid work.
• Do not click unfamiliar links, scan QR codes, install remote-access software, or share account passwords, OTPs, card details, BVN, or identity documents with a supposed client.
• Do not accept a client’s request to move payment and all project communication off-platform when using a platform that offers protections only through its documented process.
• Be cautious about vague “write 30 articles today” messages, unusually high pay for no clear task, or a promise of money after you first send a personal payment.

Set realistic expectations

Writing skills can become useful paid work, but income is variable and is not guaranteed. Focus on improving clarity, research discipline, editing, client communication, and project reliability. Keep records of your completed work and learn from feedback; do not present generated or copied work as your own expertise.
