Status checked: October 13, 2026. No website can guarantee the cheapest flight from Nigeria. Airfares, baggage rules, exchange rates, payment charges, seat availability, airport taxes, route changes, and ticket conditions can change quickly. Compare the full trip cost and read the fare rules before paying.
This guide helps you plan and verify a flight booking. It does not guarantee a fare, visa, entry permission, immigration outcome, refund, baggage allowance, or an agent’s booking service.
Compare the total cost, not the headline fare
| Check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Final ticket price | Check the amount after taxes, payment charges, currency conversion, and any optional add-ons. A low starting price may not be the final payable amount. |
| Baggage allowance | Confirm cabin and checked-baggage limits, restricted items, and excess-baggage charges for your exact fare and itinerary. |
| Change and cancellation conditions | Some fares carry penalties, limited refunds, or no-change rules. NCAA advises passengers to ask about ticket conditions and change penalties. |
| Airport and connection plan | Check departure airport, transit time, terminal changes, overnight rules, entry/transit documents, and what happens if a separate booking is delayed. |
| Travel documents | A ticket is not a visa or entry approval. Check current passport, visa, health, and transit requirements for your nationality and full route. |
Ways to search without assuming a “best day”
- Search several date windows if your travel is flexible, then compare the final price for the same cabin, baggage, and change conditions.
- Compare direct bookings with the airline and established booking channels. Confirm the airline/booking reference after purchase using the issuing company’s official contact route.
- Consider total travel time, number of stops, airport transfer costs, and overnight accommodation, not merely the cheapest displayed fare.
- Check whether booking two separate tickets changes your protection if the first flight is delayed; do not assume one airline will cover a separate booking.
- Book only when your route, documents, budget, and fare conditions are understood. “Last seat” countdowns are not a substitute for verification.
Documents and entry conditions come before travel
IATA’s Travel Centre provides passport, visa, health, tax, currency, and customs information for individual itineraries. IATA also notes that requirements change and that having documents does not guarantee admission: local immigration authorities make entry decisions. Re-check your destination and transit requirements close to departure, and use the destination government’s official immigration page for any important decision.
At the airport and if something goes wrong
NCAA advises passengers to arrive early, its consumer-protection FAQ states two hours before a domestic departure and three hours before an international departure. Keep your ticket, booking confirmation, boarding pass, baggage tags, receipts, and any airline notices. NCAA says that a passenger should complain to the airline first; if the issue is not resolved, a complaint can be made through an NCAA Consumer Protection desk, the NCAA website, or its published consumer-protection contact route.
Flight-booking scam safeguards
- Do not pay a personal account, crypto wallet, or anonymous WhatsApp seller for a “guaranteed cheap ticket,” “embassy clearance,” or “refundable reservation” without independently verifying the business and booking.
- Do not share banking passwords, card PINs, OTPs, email passwords, passport scan, or travel-account login with a supposed agent.
- Check the full fare conditions, airline name, flight number, route, baggage allowance, issuing company, and booking reference before payment, not simply a screenshot.
- Be cautious about fares that are dramatically lower than normal, pressure to pay immediately, misspelled airline domains, or a claim that a visa is included with a ticket.
- Keep written confirmation and receipts. If a booking is made through an agent, obtain the actual airline/issuer reference and verify it through an official channel.
