So you applied to Ekiti State University and now you’re refreshing your phone every hour looking for your name. Take a breath. This guide shows you the right places to check the EKSU admission list, how to read your real status, and the steps that turn an offer into a confirmed place.
Admission list versus admission status
People use these two terms as if they mean the same thing, but they don’t. The admission list is the batch the school publishes. Your admission status is what JAMB shows for you personally on CAPS. Your status is what truly matters, because that’s where the offer is made and accepted. A list can lag behind your status, or the other way round, so check both.
EKSU, based in Ado-Ekiti, runs its admissions through JAMB like other state universities, which means your offer lands on CAPS first.
Checking your EKSU status on JAMB CAPS
Log into your JAMB profile using the email and password you registered with, then open CAPS. Your admission status sits inside the admission section. If EKSU has offered you a place, you’ll see it stated plainly, along with the course you’ve been offered.
New to the process? Our detailed guide on how to check your JAMB admission status on CAPS takes you through every click.
Checking the EKSU portal
The university publishes admission updates on its official portal too. To check:
- Open the official EKSU website and go to the admissions or student portal area.
- Sign in with your application or JAMB registration number.
- Locate the admission list or status page for the current session.
- Confirm your name, your department and any next-step instructions.
Only use the school’s official domain. Copycat sites exist purely to harvest your details or your money.
Cut-off marks and why your score matters
State universities admit based on merit, your O’Level results and the departmental cut-off for the course you chose. A high UTME score helps, but competitive departments like medicine, law and nursing demand much more than the general minimum. If you’re borderline for one course, a related course in the same faculty may be within reach.
It helps to understand how these marks work. Our explainer on the JAMB cut-off mark breaks down the difference between the general minimum and departmental cut-offs.
Accept your offer so it sticks
Here’s the mistake that costs people their place: they see the offer and celebrate, but never accept it on CAPS. An unaccepted offer can be withdrawn. Log into CAPS and accept the EKSU admission so it becomes officially yours, then move on to the school’s registration steps.
Not on the list yet?
Admission lists roll out in batches, so a blank result today isn’t a rejection. First and second lists, and sometimes supplementary ones, come out over weeks. Keep checking, and make sure your uploaded O’Level results and profile details are accurate, since errors quietly block valid offers.
Finish registration and dodge scammers
After accepting on CAPS, complete EKSU’s acceptance and registration on its portal, pay the official fees, and submit your documents for screening within the stated window. Do all of it on time.
And remember, nobody can sell you EKSU admission. The school doesn’t use agents, and no one can push your name onto a list for a fee. Pay only the official charges through the school’s own platform, and get your portal links from the official EKSU website.
Quick answers on checking EKSU admission
Where do I check? JAMB CAPS for your status and the official EKSU portal for the list. Ignore social media screenshots.
What if my name isn’t there? Keep checking. Lists come in batches, so it may appear in a later one.
Do I have to accept on CAPS? Yes. An offer only becomes final when you accept it on CAPS.
Can an agent guarantee my admission? No. That’s a scam. Admission runs through JAMB and EKSU only.
