LASU Admission List: How to Check First and Second Batch Lists

Every admission season, Lagos State University aspirants crowd the same groups asking one question: has the list come out, and is my name on it? LASU releases its admission in stages rather than all at once, so knowing how the process works saves you weeks of needless worry and stops you trusting every rumour that lands in your WhatsApp.

Here is exactly how to check your LASU admission list and read each stage correctly.

How LASU releases admission

LASU, based in Ojo on the edge of Lagos, is a state university with heavy demand for courses like Law, Mass Communication and the health sciences. It admits in batches as spaces are confirmed, so you will usually see a first list followed by second and supplementary lists that fill remaining spaces. Missing the first list is not a rejection, because many candidates are admitted in later waves once earlier offers are accepted or declined.

Where to check your status

• JAMB CAPS, where your official admission status is confirmed and where you accept the offer.
• The LASU admissions portal on the school website at lasu.edu.ng.

Check both, because your name can show on the school portal while CAPS is where the admission becomes real. Log in to CAPS with your JAMB profile and look under the admission status section.

Accepting your admission

Finding your name is only half the job. On CAPS you must formally accept or reject the offer, and an unaccepted offer can eventually be withdrawn. After accepting, follow the LASU instructions for the acceptance fee, school fees and registration within the stated window, and pay only through the official portal.

A note on indigene and non-indigene fees

Because LASU is state-owned, Lagos indigenes and non-indigenes often pay different fee bands, with non-indigenes usually paying more. This does not change your academic chances or where you sit on the list, only your costs, so if you are applying from outside Lagos, budget for the higher band early rather than being caught out after your name appears. Confirm the current fees on the official portal, since they are reviewed from time to time.

Documents to get ready for clearance

Prepare your papers before your name even shows, so you can move fast. You will usually need your JAMB admission letter and result slip printed from your profile, your O’level results with the details needed for online verification, your birth certificate or sworn declaration of age, your local government identification letter, and several recent passport photographs. Keep clean scanned copies for upload and bring the originals for physical screening, and make sure your name and date of birth match across every document, since a mismatch is a common reason clearance stalls.

If your name is not there yet

Stay calm and keep checking, because lists come in waves. Confirm your status only on CAPS and the LASU portal, not on screenshots circulating online, and never pay an agent who claims to upload your name, because admission cannot be bought that way. Common questions

How long between lists? It varies each cycle, so there is no fixed gap. Check CAPS and the LASU portal regularly rather than waiting for an announced date. Does LASU admit on JAMB and O’level only? It screens on your JAMB score and O’level aggregate for most courses, so both matter. Can I be given a different course? Yes, a supplementary offer is sometimes for a related course, which can be a sensible way into the university. Is there any fee to check my list? No, checking on CAPS and the official portal is free, so never pay anyone to check or upload your name.
