Every year, the Nigerian Army opens its doors to thousands of young Nigerians through the Regular Recruit Intake, and the 92RRI is the latest window. If you have ever dreamed of wearing the Army uniform, this is one chance you should treat seriously. The form is free, the process is online, and the competition is real. Here is everything you need to know before you apply.

What Is the 92RRI?

RRI simply means Regular Recruit Intake. It is the Army’s standard entry for non-commissioned recruits, the men and women who form the backbone of the force. The 92RRI is the 92nd of these intakes. Successful candidates go through basic military training and pass out as soldiers, with room to grow through the ranks over the years.

Who Can Apply?

The Army publishes exact conditions for each intake, but the standing requirements look like this:

  • You must be a Nigerian citizen by birth, with a valid means of identification.
  • Non-trades applicants usually fall between 18 and 22, while tradesmen and women with certificates can apply up to around 26.
  • At least four credits in SSCE, NECO or their equivalent, including English Language, in no more than two sittings.
  • Men should be at least 1.68 metres tall, women at least 1.65 metres.
  • You must be single, medically fit and of good character, with no criminal record.

Trades applicants should also hold their trade test certificates. For a deeper breakdown, read our full post on Nigerian Army recruitment requirements.

How to Apply for the 92RRI

Everything happens on the official Nigerian Army recruitment portal. Create an account with a working email and phone number, fill your biodata slowly, upload clear scans of your documents, then submit and print your acknowledgement slip. That slip is your entry pass to the screening centre, so guard it well. One small spelling mistake in your name or date of birth can cost you the slot, so cross-check everything before you hit submit.

Screening and What Follows

After the portal closes, shortlisted candidates are invited for zonal screening across the country. Expect document verification, physical checks and an aptitude test. Those who scale through move to medicals and the final selection board. The whole process takes weeks, sometimes months, so patience is part of the game. Successful candidates then report for basic training at the Depot Nigerian Army in Zaria.

Scam Warning

The Army form is free. Nobody can sell you a slot, and nobody can influence the shortlist for a fee. Anyone who tells you otherwise is a fraudster, uniform or no uniform. Only use the official portal and read our guide on fake recruitment scams in Nigeria before anyone sweet-talks you into paying.

How to Check the Current Status

Recruitment windows open and close, so as at the time of writing, the surest move is to visit the official portal directly and read the current notice. If the 92RRI window has closed, another intake will follow in due course. Bookmark the portal and check weekly.
