YABATECH Admission List: How to Check Yaba College of Technology Admission

YABATECH Yaba College of Technology admission list

Yaba College of Technology, known everywhere as YABATECH, is the oldest higher institution in Nigeria and still one of the most sought-after polytechnics in the country. Every admission season, thousands of candidates who picked YABATECH keep refreshing their phones with one question on their mind: is my name on the list? This guide shows you how to check your YABATECH admission the right way, what each stage means, and what to do whether your name shows or not.

A quick word on YABATECH

YABATECH sits in Yaba, Lagos, and has been running since 1947. It offers National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes across engineering, art and design, science, business and environmental studies. It also runs Pre-ND and part-time options. Because the school admits in large numbers and across many departments, the admission list comes out in batches, so a name missing from the first release is not the end of the road.

Before you check: the stages that come first

Admission into YABATECH is not automatic after JAMB. For full-time ND, you choose YABATECH in your UTME, meet the cut-off, then sit the school screening when it is announced. YABATECH looks at your UTME score, your screening, and your O’level grades before a name enters the admission list. For HND, you apply directly to the school with your ND result and your industrial training record.

How to check your YABATECH admission list

There are two trustworthy places to look, and both are official:

  • The YABATECH admission portal on the school website. Log in with your application details and check your admission status there.
  • The JAMB CAPS portal, for full-time ND candidates. Log in to your JAMB profile, open CAPS, and look for an admission offer, which you then accept or reject.

Stick to these two only. Any random blog or WhatsApp group claiming to hold the real list is where fake lists and admission scams hide.

You have been offered admission. Now what?

If your status shows admitted, move fast. For ND full-time, accept the offer on CAPS first. Then follow the YABATECH steps: pay your acceptance fee through the approved channel, print your admission letter, complete your registration and clearance, and pay your fees within the stated window. Deadlines are strict, and people have lost hard-won places by sleeping on them.

Your name is not on the list yet

Do not panic, and do not pay anybody promising to push your name. YABATECH releases several batches, so a later list may still carry you. Keep checking the school portal and CAPS. For the wider picture, see our guide on the polytechnic admission list and how ND admission works. If your score clearly fell short, look at a related department your mark can reach, consider the Pre-ND route, or plan for the next cycle. No genuine staff member will ask you for money to upload your name to a list.

Final checklist

Keep your JAMB and school portal details safe, make sure your O’level results are uploaded correctly, and respond to every prompt on time. YABATECH admission rewards the candidate who meets the requirements and follows the official steps, not the one chasing a shortcut.

Quick answers on YABATECH admission

What is the difference between ND and Pre-ND? Pre-ND is a foundation programme for candidates who need to strengthen their results before they qualify for the National Diploma. Many students use it as a second door into the course they want.

Do HND candidates use CAPS? No. HND admission is handled directly by YABATECH, not through JAMB CAPS. You apply on the school portal with your ND result and SIWES details, and you check your status there.

Can you do a change of course within YABATECH? If your score misses your first choice but reaches another department, an internal change is sometimes possible through the official process. Ask the admissions office directly, and never pay an agent to arrange it.
