Polytechnic aspirants face the same yearly suspense as university candidates: waiting for the admission list and wondering whether their name made it. The good news is that the process for National Diploma admission follows a clear pattern once you understand it, so you can stop refreshing portals blindly and check the right places instead.
Here is how to check your polytechnic admission list and read each stage.
How polytechnics release admission
Full-time National Diploma (ND) admissions into accredited polytechnics are processed through JAMB, so they appear on JAMB CAPS just like university admissions. Each polytechnic admits in batches as it confirms spaces, releasing a first list followed by later and supplementary lists. Part-time and some HND admissions are handled directly by the polytechnic rather than through JAMB, so always confirm which route your programme uses before you start checking.
Where to check your status
- JAMB CAPS for full-time ND admissions, where your status is confirmed and where you accept. Start from jamb.gov.ng.
- Your polytechnic admissions portal, which also publishes names and clearance instructions.
Check both, because your name can show on the school portal while CAPS is where a JAMB-processed admission becomes real. Log in to CAPS with your JAMB profile and open the admission status section.
Accepting your admission
For full-time ND offers on CAPS, you must formally accept, because an unaccepted offer can be withdrawn. After accepting, follow your polytechnic instructions for the acceptance fee, school fees and registration within the stated window, and pay only through the official portal.
ND, HND and part-time: know your route
Not every polytechnic admission runs through JAMB. Full-time ND is JAMB-based and shows on CAPS, but HND admission is usually based on your ND results and handled directly by the polytechnic, and part-time ND often uses the school’s own screening rather than JAMB. Knowing which route applies to you decides where you check and whether CAPS acceptance is part of the process. If you are unsure, the polytechnic admissions office or its official portal is the place to confirm.
Documents to prepare for clearance
Get your papers ready in advance. For a full-time ND offer you will usually need your JAMB admission letter and result slip, your O’level results with verification details, your birth certificate or declaration of age, your local government identification letter, and passport photographs. For HND, add your ND certificate or statement of result and your industrial training records. Keep clean scans for upload and bring originals for verification, confirming your names match across all documents.
If your name is not there yet
Keep checking calmly across each batch, and rely only on CAPS and your polytechnic portal rather than social-media screenshots. Never pay an agent who promises to add your name to a list, because admission cannot be bought. Common questions

Part-time ND often uses the school’s own screening, so confirm your route with the polytechnic. Is there a fee to check my name? No, checking on CAPS and the polytechnic portal is free, so never pay anyone to upload your name.
