Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, which everyone simply calls UDUSOK, is the biggest federal university in the north-west and a top choice for thousands of candidates each year. Once the admission season starts, the waiting game begins, and the question on every applicant’s lips is the same: has my name dropped? This guide takes you through where to check your UDUSOK admission properly, how the school reaches its decision, and the right step to take in either case.
How your admission is decided
Passing JAMB does not put you straight into UDUSOK. You must have chosen the school in your UTME, scored above the departmental cut-off, and taken the university screening when it is announced. UDUSOK then weighs your UTME score, your screening and your O’level grades together to decide who gets a place. The admission list is the result of all three, and it is published through JAMB CAPS.
The only places worth checking
Two official platforms hold the real information:
- JAMB CAPS. Log into your JAMB profile, open CAPS, and look for an offer, which you accept or reject right there.
- The UDUSOK admission portal on the university website, where the school posts its batch lists and lets you check your status with your JAMB number.
Treat everything else as noise. A list circulating on social media before the school releases it is where scammers do their work.
If CAPS is new to you, our guide on how to check your JAMB admission status on CAPS walks you through every click, and our breakdown of JAMB subject combinations helps you line up the right course from the start.
Why patience matters here
UDUSOK admits across many faculties, from medicine and agriculture to arts, education and the sciences. Because the numbers are large, the school releases admission in batches rather than all at once. So if your name is not on the first list, do not read it as a rejection. Later batches often carry the names that the first one left out.
When your name appears
An offer on CAPS is the green light you have waited for, but now speed matters. Accept it on CAPS first. Then follow the UDUSOK steps without dragging your feet: pay the acceptance fee through the approved channel, print your admission letter, complete your registration and clearance, and settle your school fees inside the stated window. These deadlines are firm, and sleeping on them has cost people their place.
When it does not
Stay calm, and keep your money where it is. Nobody can genuinely arrange your admission for a fee. Since UDUSOK releases several batches, keep checking CAPS and the portal. If your score clearly fell short of your course, look at a related programme your mark can reach, or prepare for the next cycle. The honest route always beats the shortcut being sold to you.
Little things that protect you
Keep your JAMB login details safe, confirm your O’level results are uploaded correctly, and respond to every CAPS prompt quickly. The candidates who make it through are the ones who meet the requirements and follow the steps, not the ones chasing a back door that never existed.
Quick answers on UDUSOK admission
How many batches does UDUSOK release? Several across the season. So the first list is only the beginning. Keep checking until admissions officially close.
What is the acceptance fee for? It confirms that you are taking the offer. Pay it only through the official channel shown on the UDUSOK portal, and keep your receipt safe.
Can you change your course? If your score missed your first choice but reaches another programme at UDUSOK, a change of course is sometimes possible through the official process. Use CAPS and the portal, ask the admissions office directly, and never pay an agent to handle it.
