UNIBEN Admission List: How to Check University of Benin Admission

The University of Benin draws a massive pool of applicants each year, especially for its respected medicine, law, and engineering programmes, so admission is highly competitive and released in stages. If you are an UNIBEN hopeful refreshing your portal daily, understanding how the lists work will spare you a lot of unnecessary stress.

Here is how to check your UNIBEN admission list properly.

How UNIBEN releases admission

UNIBEN, in Benin City, Edo State, with its Ugbowo and Ekehuan campuses, admits on merit and federal guidelines, issuing a first list and then later lists as acceptances are confirmed and spaces reopen. Supplementary lists later fill any remaining capacity. Plenty of qualified candidates are admitted in second or later batches, so a blank first list should not crush your hopes.

Where to check

• JAMB CAPS, the official record of your admission status and the accept or reject point.
• The UNIBEN admissions portal on the university website at uniben.edu.

Use both sources, but let CAPS be the final authority. A name on the school portal still has to be reflected and accepted on CAPS before your place is real.

Accepting the offer

When your offer shows, accept it on CAPS at once, since a pending offer can be withdrawn. You will find your status and the accept button together on the CAPS dashboard; read each line carefully before you confirm, because the choice between accept and reject is yours to make and difficult to reverse afterwards. Then settle the acceptance fee, school fees, and registration within UNIBEN deadlines.

If your name is missing

Do not panic after one list; watch each new batch carefully. Confirm your screening and documents were submitted correctly, and compare the pattern in our LASU admission list guide for a state-university perspective. To revisit how UNIBEN screens candidates, read our UNIBEN post-UTME guide.

Do not be scammed

No agent can genuinely place your name on the UNIBEN list for money, so ignore every such offer. Rely solely on CAPS and the official portal, and never share your JAMB profile with strangers promising guaranteed admission.

Checking the UNIBEN admission list is about following the right channels across each batch, accepting your offer the instant it appears, and ignoring unofficial lists. Keep that discipline and you will always know your genuine status.

How UNIBEN handles second and supplementary lists

UNIBEN, in Benin City, releases admission in stages rather than all at once, so the first list is only the beginning. As admitted candidates accept or decline, and as the university confirms how many spaces remain in each course, it publishes second and later lists, and finally supplementary lists that fill whatever is left. A supplementary offer is sometimes for a closely related course rather than your exact first choice, which can be a sensible route into the university if your preferred programme is full. So a quiet first list is not a rejection; keep watching CAPS and the UNIBEN portal through each wave before drawing any conclusion about your chances.

Preparing for acceptance and registration

When your name appears, accept the offer on CAPS first, because an unaccepted offer can lapse. Then check the UNIBEN admissions portal for the acceptance fee and its deadline, and pay only through the official channel. Have your documents ready for clearance: your JAMB admission letter and result slip, your O’level results with verification details, your birth certificate or age declaration, your local government identification, and passport photographs. Confirm that your names match across all of them. After clearance you pay school fees, register your courses, and complete matriculation, each with its own deadline, so check your email and the portal regularly and keep every receipt.
