Status checked: October 15, 2026. Afreximbank’s official internship listing is marked open-ended and says applications are received throughout the year. It is not a generic “2026 $1,500 monthly” offer: placements are competitive and limited, run for up to six months, have eligibility and relocation conditions, and do not promise employment.
This guide explains the official Afreximbank internship route. It does not guarantee that every eligible person will be selected, receive a particular placement date or location, receive a stipend, obtain a visa, or be offered employment by Afreximbank after an internship.
Current official listing at a glance
| Topic | Official position | Important boundary |
|---|---|---|
| Application status | The official listing is marked open-ended and says applications are received throughout the year. | This is not a promise of an immediate opening, selection, deadline-free eligibility, or a guaranteed place in the next cohort. |
| Duration and timing | Internships are offered for a minimum of three months and up to six months, twice yearly, with seasons stated as January and June. | The Bank takes only a limited number of candidates and contacts only successful candidates. |
| Study status | The Bank prefers applicants who can prove current full-time undergraduate or postgraduate enrollment in the internship year. | A completed degree or a field listed by a blog does not by itself establish eligibility; read the current official listing. |
| Location | The official page says the internship is not virtual and candidates must relocate to their allocated entity; most placements are at headquarters in Cairo. | Selection does not remove individual travel, document, insurance, residence-visa, or relocation requirements. |
| Employment outcome | The official terms state that interns are neither contract nor permanent staff. | The internship does not promise employment before, during, or after the placement. |
Eligibility and application documents to verify
According to Afreximbank’s current official listing, candidates should review the full requirements for current full-time undergraduate or postgraduate study, relevant academic areas, nationality/diaspora/mission criteria, English or French language ability, age 20–32 in the application year, and any exclusion that applies. The listed application package includes a letter of application, current CV, valid passport copy, certified relevant academic certificates, an institutional internship recommendation, and a short statement of intent. Requirements can change, so the live listing, not an old advert, controls.
Stipend and cost terms: do not oversimplify them
The official listing states that successful interns relocating from their home countries may receive a USD 1,000 monthly tax-free stipend and a USD 500 housing allowance, payable at the end of each month, to help with living costs. These are separate programme terms, not a guaranteed flat salary for every applicant. The same page says interns are responsible for their own upkeep, including accommodation, meals, transport, clothing, medical insurance, and group personal accident insurance, subject to the terms and support listed by the Bank.
How to apply through the official route
- Open the official Afreximbank Internship Opportunities page directly.
- Read the live listing in full, including the location, status, eligibility, duration, document list, terms, and any changes to the application form.
- Use only the listing’s own Apply for job route. Do not use a social-media form, WhatsApp/Telegram group, or someone claiming to reserve an internship place.
- Submit truthful documents in your own name. If selected, read the conditional-offer, insurance, travel, visa, and reporting requirements before making arrangements.
- Keep your own application record. A submission, profile account, email acknowledgement, or message from an unverified individual is not selection or an offer.
Payment, document, and impersonation safeguards
- Do not pay an agent, recruiter, school representative, or personal account for an application, shortlist, visa, stipend release, conditional offer, or internship “slot.”
- Do not share your login, email password, OTP, bank/card information, passport original, or identity records with an unverified person.
- Do not submit altered enrollment, transcript, recommendation, passport, or identity documents. You are responsible for information supplied in your name.
- Do not book travel, resign, borrow money, or make immigration or financial commitments because of a blog post, social-media message, or unverified email.
- Verify the current live listing directly at Afreximbank before paying, uploading documents, or acting on any alleged selection notice.
