Nigeria Police Recruitment: Official 2026 Status and Call-Up Guide

Status checked: October 17, 2026. The official PSC/NPF portal is currently displaying a College Call-Up Notice for successful applicants in the 50,000 constable recruitment. This is not a new application opening. If you did not participate in that exercise, do not pay anyone or follow a third-party “Police recruitment form” claim.

The Police Service Commission says the recruitment exercise has concluded and that successful applicants will receive notifications through the email addresses and phone numbers used in their original applications. Candidates should act only on instructions shown in their own official portal record or sent through that official contact route.

Current official recruitment stage

The official PSC/NPF recruitment portal says successful applicants have been released for the recruitment of 50,000 police constables. It says designated Police Training Institution reporting dates/times will be communicated and that candidates who fail to report as required may be treated as declining the offer. This is a post-selection/call-up stage, not an invitation for new applications.

For successful candidates only

  • Check the official portal and your own registered email/SMS for the instruction that applies to your record.
  • Follow the portal’s documented call-up-slip, NIN/BVN-slip, certificate, documentation, and dress-code requirements only if you are a successful candidate with an official call-up notice.
  • Attend the designated Police Training Institution only on the date/time communicated through official channels.
  • Medical examination and documentation form part of the official reporting process; do not pay an intermediary to “clear” or change that process.

What the earlier 2026 examination notice means

A Federal Ministry of Information notice records that written examinations were held from 28 to 30 April 2026 for candidates who had already passed physical and credential screening. It is historic process context, not a current invitation to apply or an authority for an agent to sell a screening slot.

Recruitment-scam safeguards

  • The PSC portal states that the recruitment process is entirely free.
  • Do not pay for a form, shortlist, training placement, medical, call-up letter, or “slot.”
  • Do not share your portal password, one-time code, NIN/BVN information, or bank details with a third party.
  • Use the PSC portal and listed PSC contact addresses for genuine support, not WhatsApp groups or personal email accounts.

What successful candidates should do now

If you took part in the constable exercise and your status shows you have been called up, act only on the instructions in your own official portal record and the email or SMS tied to your original application. Log in to the official PSC portal and read the exact call-up-slip, NIN and BVN slip, certificate, documentation, and dress-code requirements that apply to you. Report to the designated Police Training Institution only on the date and time communicated through official channels, because candidates who fail to report as required may be treated as declining the offer. The medical examination and documentation are part of the official reporting process, so never pay an intermediary to “clear” or alter any of it.

How to recognise a genuine future recruitment

When the Police next open a fresh application window, it will be announced through the official PSC and Force channels, and the process is stated to be entirely free. A real call names the roles, the eligibility, the required documents, and a clear deadline, with applications submitted on the official portal. Treat any “police recruitment form” that arrives through a WhatsApp group, a personal email, or a look-alike website as suspect until you confirm it on the official PSC portal. Never pay for a form, a shortlist, a training placement, or a “slot”, and never share your portal password or one-time codes.

Official sources

  • PSC/NPF Recruitment Portal: current successful-candidate call-up status, individual-notification route, reporting context, contacts, and free-process statement.
  • Federal Ministry of Information Notice: historical April 2026 examination-stage context and PSC scam warning.

Last checked: October 17, 2026. Police recruitment stages and reporting instructions can change. Verify your own status on the official PSC portal before travelling, sharing documents, or taking any action.

How to spot a fake Nigeria Police recruitment

Here is the hard truth. The Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force do not collect money for recruitment. Not for forms. Not for shortlisting. Not for a medical slot. So the moment anyone asks you to pay, you are looking at a scam. Full stop.

Watch for these too. A recruitment portal that is not on policerecruitment.gov.ng or npf.gov.ng. A WhatsApp admin who promises to help you pass for a fee. A list of successful candidates shared before the Commission announces anything. An agent who claims he knows someone at Louis Edet House. Walk away from all of it.

Are you eligible? A quick checklist

Before you start, run through this.

  • You are a Nigerian citizen by birth.
  • Your age falls within the advertised band, usually 18 to 25 for constable.
  • You have an SSCE with credits in the required subjects, English and Maths included.
  • Your height is roughly 1.67m for men and 1.64m for women.
  • No criminal record, and no physical defect that affects duty.
  • Your name, age and documents match across your certificate, NIN and birth record.

That last point matters more than people think. A mismatch between your certificate and your NIN is where plenty of strong candidates get dropped.

What the real recruitment process looks like

So what does the genuine process look like? The Commission announces the recruitment and opens the online portal. You register for free, fill your details, upload your documents and print your guarantor form. Then you wait for the shortlist, which appears on the official portal, not in a private group. Shortlisted applicants are invited for screening and physical and medical checks at a state centre. Those who pass move on to training at a police college. Every stage is free, and every update shows up on the official site first.

Timeline of the 50,000 constable exercise

The Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Nigeria Police Force announced the recruitment of 50,000 constables on 11 December 2025, with the online portal open from 15 December 2025. The PSC said the application was free and that no payment was required at any stage.

The application window was later extended to 8 February 2026, after the commission said more than 400,000 applications had been received. The written examination was then fixed for 28 to 30 April 2026. Published reports say the PSC later released a list of successful candidates, with status checks on the official portal opening from 16 July 2026. Check the official portal for your own record, because the PSC says each successful candidate receives instructions through the email address and phone number used in the original application.

What this means if you applied

If you took part in the exercise, log in to the official portal with the details you used to apply and read your status there. Do not rely on a screenshot or a forwarded message. The portal record is the only place where your next step is listed.

What this means if you did not apply

This is not an open application window. If someone tells you a police slot, form or shortlist is open through WhatsApp, a personal email or a copy of the portal, treat it as a scam until you confirm it on the PSC site. The PSC has repeatedly warned about cyber cafes and agents charging for applications.
